Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 is a very clean cotton mixed with 20% polyester, lightly needle punched and lightly resonated and not as lofty as the PolyDown. The result is a batting for the quilter who has been looking for Great Cotton Batting. This batting will give your projects the traditional flat look of antique quilts. Cotton is a breathable fiber that provides warmth and comfort and drapes beautifully.
Hobbs PolyDown batting is definitely a great "snugly" batting. This wonderfully soft polyester batting is a lower-loft batting. PolyDown is made with very fine white denier polyester that provides a lovely soft drape and makes this batting exceptional. PolyDown is resin bonded to provide added durability and resist bearding and migration. It is machine washable, non-allergenic and maintains loft.
We do not sell our batting separately.
We normally do not sell fabric although we do carry a limited supply of 108" fabric for backing which we will sell upon request to complete a quilt. If what we have on hand doesn't meet your needs, we can assist you by purchasing backing fabric for you. Any costs incurred (price of the material, shipping (if applicable) and handling and sales tax) will be added to the cost of your quilt.
If you wish us to bind your quilt there is an additional charge. Binding prices are based on linear inches. As an example, to calculate a 118" x 120" quilt add up the total length of the four sides in inches: 118 + 118 + 120 + 120 = 476 linear inches x $0.20 = $95.20. Minimum price for binding is $45. You will need to provide the fabric for the binding.
Binding Options:
1 - Machine sewn on front and brought to the back and hand sewn.
2 - Machine sewn on back and brought to front and machine finished on the front.
If binding is scalloped or decorative, sufficient fabric must be provided for a bias cut. The charge for scalloped or decorative bindings is $0.50 per linear inch.
We use Superior Threads: King Tut, Omni and So Fine; as well as: Signature Threads; PermaCore; Aurifil and Iris.
We have a large selection of colors to choose from. When selecting a thread for your quilt, just write in the color you would prefer.
We will quilt the front and back of your quilt in the same thread and color, unless you indicate you want something different. However, if you choose different colors, you may see the colors from the back peeking through the front stitching.
Thread is measured in bobbins: the first 3 bobbins of thread used for a project is included in the price of the quilting. Each additional or partial bobbin will be a charge of $1.75 per bobbin (above the 3 bobbins).
